Books I’ve read this summer

This summer I decided to read a lot. In the past two or three years I haven’t read much because I had so many busy days at school, I haven’t had time. So, I couldn’t wait for summer break. This is the time for rest, reading, long walks, parties or just for a now tv series and a glass of cold lemonade. I put aside three books I really liked, even if each of them is different from the other two.

The longest ride – Nicholas Sparks

A great book, like every single one Sparks writes. The difference is that this one has a nice ending, and that was the thing I feared the most. Just don’t kill me the main character! Hahah. It is about two stories at the same time, one going into the past perfectly describing live of Jewish refugees before and during the World War Two. In the present, it follows a story of university student and a cowboy who makes money bull-riding. Two people, who are very different, but so similar to one another. You could read this book in one go, that’s how much Nicholas Sparks is gifted. There is a movie, too. But I recommend the book, because some things are not shown in the movie, and the book is richer. If you still want to watch the movie, than do that after you read the book, so you don’t spoil it.

Strast u smrti – Dž.D.ROB. (Nora Roberts)

Moja preporuka!

Naked in death – J.D.Robb. (Nora Roberts)

The book Naked in death is the first book of “In Death” series, following the life of Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her interesting police career, set in the mid-21st century. For the ones who love a good thriller, with a little romance, this is a great book. Nora, as always, perfectly describes feelings between two people, just like she perfectly builds complex personalities from her characters. My recommendation!

Anastazija – Kolin Falkoner

Anastasia – Colin Falconer

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure I like this book, but as the end of it was close, it grew to my heart. It is about the Romanov family, and their mysterious destiny. Did Bolshevik revolutionaries kill them all in the night of 4th July 1918? Many books are written about them, and this one is about the youngest princess Anastasia and her escape. She doesn’t remember her childhood, she doesn’t know where she comes from, she only knows that her name is Anastasia Romanov. But, many families in Russia carry that surname. Journalist Michael Sheridan saves her from drowning in the Whangpoa River and from that moment he dedicates his life to her, and to discovering the truth. Who is she? Similarities with the royal princess are huge, but there is no evidence. A mysterious book, in some parts very direct in describing poverty, misery, desperation, selfishness. I would describe it “a very real book”. It doesn’t show you nice scenes, because Europe after WW1 wasn’t nice and beautiful. This book is a little bit on a serious side, for the ones who love historical novels.

Uživajte u letu i slobodnom vremenu!
Enjoy summer and free time!  xxx
